Tui J.
Productivity Director, Operational Excellence, Global Supply Chain

Tui’s career journey started while she was in school for electrical engineering and took her across multiple industries, including a stint in Silicon Valley. Along the way, she earned an MBA and another advanced degree in Accounting and Finance. Eventually, she accepted an opportunity at Stanley Black & Decker, where she’s helping us improve productivity, facilitate cost-saving projects and embrace sustainability.

To help our operations succeed, Tui conducts regional meetings with site leaders to discuss and review their progress and establish a plan to help them reach their targets and goals. “I’m proud to support the company as we strive to continue being best-in-class for the coming centuries.”

“While we’ve taken significant steps to optimize our processes, there’s always room for improvement,” she states. “Through technological enhancements, we can communicate efficiently, collect data and track our performance and focus on building innovative strategies.”

How Diversity Fuels Innovation

Tui appreciates how Stanley Black & Decker considers diversity as one of its core principles and sees a direct link between celebrating individual perspectives and our innovative mindset. “Innovation is crucial to our success, and diversity creates innovation,” she says. “Having an open mind and willingness to learn from one another creates a culture of collaboration, and that’s necessary for innovation to flourish.”

She continues, “To enable the capabilities of our teams today and build the leaders of tomorrow, we’re embracing everyone’s experiences, viewpoints and skillsets. That’s how we drive change here and in the world.”

A Place Where Careers Can Grow

Along with our emphasis on diversity, Tui sees working at Stanley Black & Decker as an avenue for professional growth. “There are many opportunities and career paths here,” she states. “The Company is willing to encourage employees to grow. That’s the best part!”

On her team, Tui and her colleagues spend time supporting one another, offering advice and guiding each other along their career journeys. “My coworkers often seek out mentors, and we have sessions to discuss our goals and professional development. Seeing them step onto the path they’re looking for is a rewarding intangible benefit I receive.”

When asked for her advice for people starting out in their careers, Tui underscored the importance of having the courage to take on new challenges. “Not everyone knows the type of work they enjoy at the beginning of their careers. Don’t be afraid to get outside your comfort zone,” she says. “Approach each task with a bright attitude and seek out an innovative way to accomplish it. That’s how you’ll be successful.”
