When everyone works together, we all win. That’s the philosophy driving our entire global operations, and we create an environment where people can come together and collaborate.

Felicia, Manufacturing Supervisor, understands how this belief can fuel both personal and professional success. We spoke to her to learn more about her role and career journey at Stanley Black & Decker, the importance of coaching and the immense value of having respect for everyone.

On Her Career at Stanley Black & Decker

Felicia is a supervisor at our facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky — where she was born and raised. “On a daily basis, I’m making sure that we meet all our schedules and everyone’s working in a safe, clean environment,” she says. “Throughout the day, I do checks to make sure that we’re delivering on our targets.”

When asked about what she likes most about her job, she shares her appreciation for how no two days are exactly the same. “That keeps me on my feet and keeps me going.”

She also shares more about the pride that comes from knowing her daily work carries a substantial impact on the larger world. “Whether we’re making parts for the vehicles you and your loved ones drive every day or rivets for hospital beds, we’re doing our part to make a positive impact on the world,” she explains. “The work we do here really changes lives.”

Coaching Her Team to Success

Felicia joined Stanley Black & Decker five years ago. “After 2 years here, I jumped at my manager’s offer to become a 1st shift supervisor — and the chance to show what I’m made of,” she says. “Here, I’m able to make decisions while I run my department. I’m trusted to make the right choices for the Company.”

Felicia enjoys sharing the knowledge she’s gained throughout her career with the people on her team and views coaching as an invaluable, mutually beneficial aspect of her role. “Coaching my team, sharing what I know and watching them succeed is so rewarding. If I’m doing my job to the best of my abilities and I pour that into my team, we all win,” she says. “And, by taking the time to explain things, you’re not just helping them learn — you’re helping yourself grow as a leader.”

She also appreciates the training opportunities the Company provides. “We do a lot of training here that prepares you for opportunities at Stanley Black & Decker — and in life in general,” she says. “I’ve had several online classes, and I’m particularly proud of my certificate in the Manufacturing Leadership Academy, where I had a perfect score.”

The Value of Mutual Respect

Throughout her time at the Company, Felicia has experienced a welcoming work environment. “We’re a family here at Hopkinsville. I get to work with some of the smartest people, and some days, it doesn’t feel like I’m at work,” she shares. “Everyone is so open and willing to help you out.”

Felicia thinks this culture is derived from a shared respect between co-workers. “Everyone here, whether you work in the front office or on the floor, is treated with respect,” she says. “I believe in treating people how you want them to treat you. I’m proud to work for a Company that puts this into practice.”

She believes this principle extends beyond making employees feel supported; it’s how organizations can help the next generation develop and sustain their success. “Treating people, no matter who you are, with respect and dignity will go a long way in keeping our Company successful,” Felicia shares.
