As part of the Sales & Marketing Development Program (SMDP), you’ll join a 100-member team (and hundreds of alumni) that stretches across our Global Tools & Storage organization. You’ll engage with your team through events, training and community outreach, building a professional and personal network.

Our SMDP offers a unique and robust start to your career. You’ll begin as a Stanley Black & Decker sales representative supporting one of our largest retail customers. You’ll develop your selling skills, gain product knowledge, build relationships and implement corporate marketing strategies.

You’ll grow professionally and personally through an extensive training program that includes on-the-job training, instructor-led education and e-learning through our online university. SMDP is a nationwide program providing the opportunity to relocate within the United States.

Advanced Learning

This is not a traditional rotational program. We realize you have a unique career path based on your personal interests, skills and abilities. After your sales representative role, you can rotate into a variety of opportunities in sales, early-career management, eCommerce and marketing. We encourage program participants to tackle roles within all functions, rounding out your experiences and developing you as a leader within our organization.

SMDP GivesBack is a nationwide volunteer initiative focused on giving back to the community and creating a more sustainable world. Whether working up a sweat on Habitat builds or lending a hand at local food banks, SMDP members care about the communities in which they live and work.

This program prepares you for a well-rounded, versatile career. There are many opportunities to advance within the program, and you design your path. Your role as a sales representative tracks as follows:

 

Experience 1

Manage a territory of home improvement stores as a Stanley Black & Decker sales representative.

Gain foundational knowledge needed for success as you build a career in sales and marketing. Learn how to develop key decision-maker relationships, understand the fundamentals of merchandising, and engage with the products, brands and end users that drive our business.

Experience 2 (Choose One)

Be involved in all aspects of training, onboarding, coaching and developing a team.

In this early career management opportunity, you will drive your territory to exceed sales goals by setting strategic direction for your team and partnering with key decision-makers at a regional level.

Enterprise Solutions

Meet the professional end user where they work. Most days you’re in a hard hat and steel-toed boots, visiting job sites, developing relationships and representing Stanley Black & Decker products. The Enterprise team is also instrumental in the market research process for product development.

National Accounts

Partner with National Accounts to execute sales strategies and increase end user demand for Stanley Black & Decker products and services in the industrial and manufacturing space.

Take your experience from the job site to the boardroom. Build higher-level key decision-maker relationships and develop programs to support larger opportunities for Stanley Black & Decker’s suite of products.

National Accounts

Develop the strategy for our National Industrial Supply Accounts.

Territory Sales

Focus on managing relationships, developing strategic plans and driving sales for key target accounts; supporting Stanley Black & Decker products and promotions.

Account Manager

Learn a broad range of products, users, applications and distributor models to determine what will fit your customer needs. Responsible for driving and managing accounts in the Independent Channel.
